Without any formal training in design I have been relatively free of limiting concepts which I feel has facilitated a natural transmission of artistic expression. The results have been a sizable collection of designs and the establishment in 2003 of the business I call Dharma Design Furniture. sign

The one consistent element to my designs is the use of curves, whether in the radial-sculptural style I began with or the current rectilinear style inspired by woodworking guru James Krenov. I learned early on just how specific curves can be, that there is very little difference between a contour that rings true and one that is clearly not right and I continue to be amazed by this.

Equally important to "correct" contour is the conscious use of space, it's relationship to form and how the one transitions to the other. Sensitivity to proportion, balance, and harmony all
contribute to the desired result which is furniture that has enduring value and universal, "classic" appeal. The one gauge of success I use for a design is, does it take my breath away, however subtly, day after day, year after year.
